Ferryland Lighthouse Picnic WebFerryland Lighthouse Picnic
This is a number one suggestion for anyone, visiting or living in Newfoundland. The food is excellent. Pick your favourite perch along the cliffs surrounding the Ferryland lighthouse and enjoy the great food delivered to you while you count whales blowing just off shore. East Coast Trail
The East Coast Trail offers a genuine wilderness hiking experience. Starting from the historic city of St. John's, you can head north or south over 300 kilometers of developed trail. It’s well worth bringing a camera and there are plenty of short legs around St. John’s: try Sugarload Path, Cobbler Path, or even Blackhead Path.  Guided hikes are available in September and very likely to be running on the weekend of the conference.  More Information: www.eastcoasttrail.ca/ and www.eastcoasttrail.ca/trail/trail_detail.php

Quidi Vidi Gut webQuidi Vidi Gut
There’s lots to do in the gut, Canada’s foggiest location.  Mallard Cottage serves incredible local foods, the brewery hosts tours, the plantation is an artists delight, the lake is a fun 5 km walk, and you can go totally authentic and enjoy some Blackhorse and India beers at the Inn of Olde (be sure to duck on the way to the bathroom).

Burin Highway webMotorcycle Touring
Just getting to St. John’s can be a lot of fun, but the best experience takes a little planning and insight. Riders should wander off the TCH and discover all the beauty in our small towns. September means fall colours and is well known as the best time to riding in the province.  More Information: www.meetup.com/NL-Adventure-Rider/
